About The Abstract Blonde

Lisa Woods known as The Abstract Blonde is an Irish born self-taught abstract artist and full time mum of three! who lives and works in Dublin.
With a background in fashion as both a fashion marketeer and stylist, Lisa has always been drawn to the power of colour, texture, and composition. This deep appreciation translates seamlessly into her art, where she explores the endless possibilities of layering and movement to create striking timeless pieces.
Working primarily with acrylic, chalk, and pastels, Lisa’s paintings are defined by their rich textures and dynamic compositions. Each piece is an intuitive exploration, blending bold and delicate elements to evoke emotion and atmosphere. Her work is designed to transform a space, bringing depth and energy to any environment in which it is displayed.
With an ever-evolving approach to her craft, The Abstract Blonde continues to push boundaries, experimenting with new techniques while staying true to her signature aesthetic.
Lisa’s Life
Painting, colours and textures have always played an inspiring role in my world, especially as a child, where I'd channel my creativity into crafting watercolours in Mrs MacNamara’s Saturday art classes… MUCH more preferable to the cold hockey pitches! Although a career in art didn’t seem viable back in my student days, my passion for the artistic world diffused into other creative outlets.
Having studied a marketing degree, I set off on a career as a fashion marketeer. Working with colours, textures and layers, along with an understanding of the visual requirements of individual contracts I was commissioned for, kept my love of creative artistry alive. The "blank canvas" of these projects, while designed to meet a business' specification, relied on my creativity to deliver an aesthetic story relevant to each space and business. The same ethos was employed during my time as a stylist where I used my skills to translate a client’s needs to bring out the true essence of them.
While both roles were rewarding and kept my creative embers burning, the ‘dream’ of one day becoming an artist never left me… I just needed a push to throw myself into it full time. That ‘push’ came in the form of a house move and bare walls! I decided to create some colourful and textured art to add personality and warmth to our home.
The enthusiastic response to those paintings from our family and friends led me to pursue this exciting and fulfilling journey - creating personalised artwork within my unique abstract style of art, each painting marrying both my individual style with each clients specific wishes and delivering a collaboration and a work of love, with a unique personalisation developed through a meeting of visions.
When I’m not in my studio covered in paint, I’m also busy raising 3 young children Olly, Archie & Marnie with my husband Niall. I’m also a proud dog momma to 2 year old Peggy the pug.
